House of Praise Choir (aka The Kingdom Psalmists)

Our Vision

  1. Soul winning
  2. To attract the unchurched to church and ultimately to God
  3. To train and raise up worship leaders who will worship the Lord in spirit and in truth
  4. To bring the people into the very throne of grace through worship.

We are ministers not entertainers

As music ministers, we believe we need to live a life that is in total agreement with the word of God. We also believe that you must be born again to minister effectively; so serious emphasis is placed on our personal / private life. Music is a ministry that will continue till eternity, so our aim is to be a part of that heavenly choir.

We meet regularly to rehearse our songs and pray.

We believe in unity of the Spirit, therefore the need for us all to have good relationship with each other. When we are united as a team we will minister better. Just as it is stated in Psalm 133

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore."

We believe that we have a duty to cooperate with God each time we minister; to receive the songs from God by going to him in prayers, to ensure God's mind is received for the selection of songs for the ministration. We believe we need to study the bible to be enriched for the ministration.

House of Praise Choir holds some special events like: Praise Night, Worship Night, and Christmas Carols
We also are involved in any church program to lead Praise and Worship and render Special numbers to aid the service.

Kingdom Psalmists Retreat - we do set apart three days in the year (depending on church calendar - could occur more than once) - To fast and pray and seek the face of the Lord as a team

We believe we are there to help the Minister in the word and enrich the service with the intent of bringing the people to the presence of God.

How can I join the House of Praise Choir?

To join the choir you need to be born again, attend audition, complete some forms and meet with the leaders for interview. You will need to attend some rehearsals before starting to minister - there is a probationary period.

We also have our annual general cleaning, which comes up after every winter season. It involves all members of the church who is willing to participate and usually occurs between May and June.

Our prayer meetings comes up every Saturday after our cleaning, where we pray for our families, the department, the church and discuss issues that needs to be improved or solved. Join us and clean God’s house and see how God will clean your life your family and everything that concerns you.

Special Events:
One of our special events is our annual get together, where we appreciate ourselves for the work well done during the year and ask God for the strength for the New Year, this event is planned by the members based on what they want to do for the ceremony.

Sunday School Department

The Sunday school department coordinates the church’s weekly adult Sunday School Classes. We teach the undiluted word of God to the church in a way that imparts every area of life. The classes are thought in an interactive manner that helps to unlock the treasures in the word of God. During the classes we search the scriptures for understanding of the bible, for spiritual growth and to learn strategies for effective Christian life. These sessions provide everyone the opportunity to ask questions, share personal experiences and insights into God’s word of truth.

Our Goals:

  • To instill the authority and integrity of scriptures in the lives of the individuals.
  • To impart the knowledge and enhance understanding of the Bible in a way that helps the members to grow their faith in Christ Jesus.
  • To teach strategies for practical application of God’s words to life situations.
  • To encourage the believers to impact their world positively through the applications of the words of God.

Special Projects Department

Mission:The blessing of God maketh rich and adds no sorrow - Proverbs 10:22. The provision of God for you as a born again and obedient child of God is to get the best things in life. God raises you to a higher level of purpose and he instills your next move in your heart.

The Special Projects Department at RCCG-HOP works closely with three other departments (Welfare, Teenage & Administrative departments).  The major functions of the special projects department include the following:

  • Works with the welfare department by providing a job search guide to new church members (new immigrants to Calgary) to assist them in job search, networking church members with registered professionals and disseminate information about upcoming career / job fairs (monthly and/or quarterly).
  • Works with the administrative unit in organizing special events/programs such as seminar / workshop that will empower church members and foster career development and advancement and also assist in the coordination of programs such as the annual cross-over service, guest ministers programs, couples event etc. (June to December annually).
  • In order to encourage the Christian virtues of excellent academic achievement, hard work, and sound moral growth and development, the special projects department works with the teenage & young adults (TRG) departments for the awarding of the annual educational assistant grants (UEG and TAG) for fresh and current undergraduate students and coordinating the celebration of success program for high school graduating students (August/September annually).

Believers Class

The aim of the believers’ class is to educate our members on the foundations of Christian doctrine as espoused by Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

This class will provide the foundation that is necessary to live a true, vibrant and victorious Christian life. “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:25. It is for everyone who is hungry and thirsty to know God more and desires to grow in the knowledge of God.  Knowing more of the finished work of God will make the Christian walk a more fulfilling experience. John 8:32 said ‘Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’

The Prayer Unit

The prayer unit is one of the departmental groups in House of Praise Parish whose mandate is to enforce the prevalence of God’s will in the life of our church members. This is done through fervent and persistent intercession until ‘the Kingdom of God is established in our lives’, the church and the nation at large.

As a praying group we deploy the host of Heaven to intercept the enterprise of the enemy over the life of God's children and command victory to reign amidst the people thereby God's children will be at liberty to worship and praise their Father (Jehovah Shammah).

Our meeting Days are as follows:
Every Tuesdays: 6:00pm - 6:55pm
Third Friday of Every Month: 9:00pm - 12:00midnight

Technical/Multimedia Department

The Technical / Multimedia arm functions interdependently with several other departments in the church. Our core functionality include

  • Delivering dynamic sound for all church related activities, mainly in the church auditorium and occasionally, at outside locations.
  • Ensures that audiovisuals / projection materials are ready for use at church meetings
  • Provide video coverage for regular Sunday service and make available for web broadcast
  • Deliver message on CD after every weekly service and special events

Why do we do what we do?
Part of our reason for existence is to bring God pleasure. We consider it an opportunity, in a church setting, to create an ultimate worship experience for attendees, through excellent sound delivery, hence, fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. Col 2:22-24 also talks about our service to God and that He is the one who rewards our service

Our Goal

  • To continuously improve on the quality sound delivered without distraction at every service or gathering and create an unbeatable atmosphere for worship
  • To develop member technical skills and capability to operate all available equipment at an intermediate to expert level
